Leftwingers running back
The Editor, Sir:

Ms. Joan Gordon-Webley's recent comments on a communist plot in the PNP, though sounding ridiculous, must be investigated. I am beginning to observe a worrying trend of 1970s, leftwingers re-entering politics on a more active basis.

I have seen where the former leftists of the 1970s are now in the running for some seats and party positions. There is no doubt in my mind that the PNP is now in a bit of a pickle. I certainly did not expect it to take an ideological perspective. The party presidential election saw the unearthing of these divisions.

The party in my mind seems to have conservative and leftist factions. The names of the persons aligned to Prime Minister Simpson Miller concern me the most.

I do hope that the media are vigilant in their journalism and see to it that the public is at all times kept informed of happenings that might negatively impact the interests of the Jamaican people. Let us not have the 1970s come back to haunt us again.

I am, etc.,
