Opposition Senator Robert Montague has called for a relaxation of some of the provisions in the Noise Abatement Act during the holiday season.
Montague is urging event promoters to be cooperative and responsible should the provisions be relaxed.
He was making his contribution to the State of the Nation debate in the Senate yesterday.
Government Senator Sophia Frazer-Binns has also called for the law to be reviewed.
As part of the review, Montague says parish councils, the police and other stakeholder groups should hold discussions to identify entertainment venues in each parish that are safe for patrons and do not disturb others.
